NEW FASHION LIGHTING MAKES BUZZ

Must-Have Lighting
$10,000 to $20,000 for basic; upwards of $64,000 for "intelligent lighting"

Pictures and video taken at a designer's show are often used as marketing materials throughout the season. As a result, proper lighting, which also creates a special ambiance for the editors and buyers watching the show, is crucial. Basic lighting can cost a designer anywhere from $10,000 to $20,000. Computer-generated "intelligent lighting" costs upwards of $64,000.

Fashion shows are just around the corner. Many of them are already happening. This new fangled light configuration is over the top. But you can see how something as simple as lighting can be elevated and take a spike jump in price.

Even throwing the word "intelligent" in there creates a huge jump from $20,000 to $64,000 dollars! The question then becomes..... what are you doing with your services that can create a money stir?

Hairy Scary

The Do's And Don'ts of Do-It-Yourself Dye Jobs

We asked celebrity colorists Joel Warren and Frank Friscioni, and women who color their hair regularly to share their tips and tricks for making an at-home dye job look every bit as chic as a professional one. Here's what they had to say and what our women recommend.

When you're choosing a color ...DO talk to a professional at a salon to get advice on which shades work best for you, says Joel Warren, a colorist and co-owner of the Warren-Tricomi salon in New York City. "If you've never colored your hair before, a colorist will be able to tell you what'll work best with your skin tone and what the formula is," says Warren. "It's worth the investment because it means you've got a better shot of finding a similar shade at the drugstore."
AOL Style Blog

When you color at home you run the risk of seriously ruining your look. This can be a very risky thing if you are novice or are in a hurry or just plain.... don't know what your doing. In either case it is better to color your hair with someone who has a little experience or leave it all to the experts. This is entirely up to you.....

No matter what you decide always use a color safe shampoo. And if you can you should wait for at least one day before you wash your hair.

Size Zero Models Are Back!! -- In London

LONDON (AFP) - One of the biggest names in British fashion, known for its close links to supermodel Kate Moss, will not use size zero models during London Fashion Week, media has reported.

Topshop, a high street brand which peddles cutting edge designs at affordable prices, has asked its designers not to use waifs.

It signed a much-trumpeted design deal with the famously skinny Moss last year.

The news came days after the British Fashion Council said it would not ban stick-thin models from London's catwalks when the shows start in two weeks' time, despite increasing pressure for the move.

"We are going to set the scene at the opening of London Fashion Week and I hope everyone else follows," Sir Philip Green, head of the Arcadia group, which owns Topshop, said in the Daily Telegraph.

"We all know what the definition of unhealthy is and we want to try to act correctly, responsibly and without causing a rift."

But he added that the company would not go as far as weighing its models.
The organizers of Madrid Fashion Week in September banned women with a body mass index (BMI) of less than 18, while ultra-thin models were also barred from Milan's fashion week.
The World Health Organization' World Health Organization says a woman is underweight if she has a BMI of less than 18.5, and adds that a BMI of between 18.5 and 24.9 is desirable.

BMI measures body fat based on height and weight and it is thought that a 5ft 9in (1.75 metres) model would have to weigh at least 55 kilograms (121 pounds) to comply with the WHO's suggested range.

Kate Moss has had somewhat of a controversial career due to recent drug trouble and headline grabbing antics. The industry scene is looking into events like these as it works to clean up the modeling scene and project a more positive image.

WINTER FASHION'S BEST BET

Here are 5 things to remember this winter.......

Ready for some fashion, but not quite ready for spring clothes yet? Don't be tempted to blow your budget on winter clearance items that you may never wear. Stick with timeless finds and you'll enjoy your smart picks for years to come.

Source:

1. Cashmere Turtlenecks
This classic look never goes out of stye. You can get these for a great price now that the Holiday season comes to a close. And you can wear it for years to come. Its a great look that goes with pretty much everything.

2. Leather Boots
These are a winter essential but you can wear them too throughout the year. Remember that Brown, Black and Tan go with pretty much anything you have in your wardrobe. This is a flexible addition to your every day wear.

3. Wool Coat
The workhorse of the winter wardrobe, a good wool overcoat is a major investment (even on sale). Choose hip to mid-thigh lengths if your wardrobe consists of pants; mid-calf or longer will cover skirts and looks dressier. Look for neutral colors (navy, black, camel, tweeds) for the most mileage.

4. White Blouse
This is a very versatile piece of clothing that you can wear with a jacket or alone. You can even wear these with a pair of jeans, (both new or retro) and you will look great.

5. Cocktail Dress
Now that the Holidays are behind us you can get some great deals on this. You can wear them all year long. But please keep in mind to lay off the velvet. That can look out of place in the warmer months.
